I get this, but 20 minutes of the episode is the Mane 6 being miserable, followed by about 30 seconds of Twilight saying "Well, I guess the REAL Gala were the friends we made along the way!" then everypony laughs and the episode just ends. The lesson doesn't feel earned, but abruptly stated outright at the end.
I think Best Gift Ever did the solidarity in failure resolution better. It's an episode with its own problems, S9 meme faces/moments and especially that scene with Marble, but it's overall a much more enjoyable episode for me.

Everybody treated her as a doormat because of past experiences, so she had to assert herself forcefully. Also, having lived her entire life as a shy mare, her newfound assertiveness must have felt like a superpower, and it went to her head.
Nevertheless, it didn't even take her 2 full days to realize that she was wrong to act that way she did and renounce it, so I don't think it's fair to say her kindness is fake or shallow.
