Yo anons, I've played a lot of Total War these days and wanna take a break not to get burnt out. Do you have any recomendations for good strategy or rpg games that aren't that popular/mainstream? Doesn't have to be real time can be any subgenre, just looking for some new stuff that might be interesting apart from TW.

depends on the faction or what you are playing against
are you playing as vampires? their lore is the best for them
are you playing with single entities? lore of life is the best
are you playing against strong single entities, heroes or lords? lore of death with spirit leech might be your best choice
terrain with small chokepoints where enemies get on top of each other? purple sun of xereus, pit of shades, casandora's comet, etc.
long lines of enemies typically found in archers/ranged formations? fire or shadows magic with burning head or penumbral pendulum, etc.
fighting against wood elves with a lot of trees or fighting against vampires with regenerating units? lore of fire
etc.etc.
