Not really. It's more like a "man throws away diamonds in pursuit of silver" anime. Guy gets like 5 best girls and ignores them for the dumbest half elf in history. I still think it's worth watching, the characters are very enjoyable. I will warn you Rem is suicide bait, too perfect
