I'm gonna disagree with you there because most shounen authors are complete ASS at writing romance.
You should read shoujo to understand what good romance is, the best shounen romances are from authors who read shoujo.
Now that I think about it, Krusie and Suselle gets treated like the inverse of typical shounen dynamics. Where this time the canon gay couple is seen as forced and lame, and people generally preferring to ship the main girl with her bro-friend.
