it was ESG money. The developer when the first game was made was a devout christian and was even asked why homo isn't in the game and he explained why in detail, to backlash.
The second game, its like his opinions and perspective did a 180 and now he had hoards of the original game fans asking him "these leaks say Henry can be gay, is this true?" and instead of just saying yes, they did everything to try deflect, cover it up and say "well even if he is, its not a big deal chud".
Basically, the dev sold out his values for money. A tale as old as time.
