Yeah I don't like that either but like idk sometimes I think Tails got the short end of the stick in those games because he gets way more screentime than any other character because he's Sonic's best friend and Sonic needs to interact with someone in a story. Like Amy and Knuckles in Lost World were literally completely useless, Tails objectively helped more than both but no he had to be carried by Sonic in that scene which makes it seem he's more useless than the others who were just background cameos. I don't think it's Sonic leeching off Tails, I think it's Sonic being the only character allowed to do anything. Tails didn't really get any worse than the other non-Sonic characters until Forces

Tails was repurposed into being the computer guy for a long while sadly, but I think that with him returning to being a playable character things will change

I love Tails! I think he has a great design that is extremely adorable, I love how fluffy he is. I love his personality and his relationship with the other characters, particularly with Sonic. Sonic and Tails really feel like they have some soul bond, and their designs compliment each other as well. I like Tails being an inventor, and working on multiple things from vehicles to rockets to software programs, his inventions are great. I like his different workshops and houses. I love how sweet and polite he is, he makes me smile. I like how he's also afraid of things, but that doesn't stop him from taking action. I love how fast he is, how intelligent he is, and his flight
