Superman's most well received stories aren't ones where he's beating the shit out of everyone. It's the stories that focus on what makes him relate to humanity instead. Watching him get to let loose against Darkseid in Superman: TAS is memorable because it's a rare moment for him, not his standard.

I think this is what western comic writers try to do with Sonic but they just aren't as good at writing it and the series can never seem to decide how powerful Sonic is outside of super form anyway

No. There's no way to fix or solve any of these issues without essentially retconning everything at this point. You're talking about the OCs as if that's the main problem but the actual first and main problem with this comic book is that it's literally not even about Sonic the Hedgehog to begin with.
