I like Surge's design, personality and abilities. I could see her and Kit in the games just fine. However if it was up to me I would basically change her entire role to be a rival to Amy. Her being a Tenrec (fake hedgehog) would still work thematically since Amy is a hedgehog, Amy gains a proper rival, and they could even capitalize on the Tsundere thing

Lanolin... I don't see what she adds gameplay wise. Her character in IDW is not appealing either

I always liked Surge and Kit's designs the most of the IDW cast. I also think they're the only 2 IDW characters that could work in the games
