I wasn't OP, I just don't see an issue either way because nothing is lost. If she was always human, it would've probably meant more prominent human characters that regularly appear that aren't just Eggman would be in the main cast. Something like Forces or the IDW books couldn't happen, which I'd consider a plus now that I'm thinking about it.
