Being able to slack off is the entire point of developing technology. Do you think man invented the wheel and the engine and automation to work harder? What we're doing now is UBI with fake work attached. Instead of just giving people the money created by the automation/tech for free, we're making people do fake, performative jobs for it instead. UBI isn't about giving unproductive people free money - we're already doing that. It's about giving productive people a raise, and giving unproductive people the free money they're already receiving, but without the fake work (which actually wastes more resources).
