I liked umineko's story more but I definitely preferred steins gate's main character, I absolutely hate characters especially main characters that are in a world with magic and shit and then just keep going "nope, magic doesn't exist, that's stupid and unrealistic" when there's witches summoning monsters right in front of you, I know that the novel is about how the witches only go into the game with him to prove that magic is real and if he just accepted that magic is real then they would've just killed him instantly, but still it just triggers me "yeah uhh you blow a guy's head up with a fireball? cool trick but it can't fool me" like REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE SHUT UP, it's just fucking annoying, okabe was in a similar situation where he was just pretending to be a retard to save mayushii from suicidal depression or whatever, but at least I can symphatise with him, while with battler I'm just rolling my eyeballs back into my skull, the whole plot about cern (lmfao fucking cern, some french research lab) controlling the world with time machines is just absolutely silly though
