My dad is like this, has had a cushy union job since the early 90s, will get a pension, has a 401k, and gets paid double for overtime at like 34$ base pay.
Somehow the union hes apart of voted to keep people hired before a certain date at the higher pay rate and allow the company to lower it for those hired after 2002, so boomers that work there are receiving like 10-12 dollars an hour more for the same work while also being lazy af and leaving the work in the hands of the younger employees. Despite all this my dad is calling me every two weeks because he needs money to not overdraft and has never saved a dime
Always remember hearing about how nothing in life is free and I needed to purchase my own car because when they were young that’s what they did, turned out it wasn’t even true and they were bought cars by their parents.
