Is the Trainer from the anime well-liked?
I feel like he's just so half-assed. Like, initially he comes off as some brilliant genius just hampered by laziness or maybe bad luck, but the anime never really goes far to show him actually coming up with strategies or good training methods. Even though he brought in Special Week with his fascination with legs, we never get to see how the others like Scarlet and Gold Ship joined. And for all the Trainer/Suzuka shipping because of that one scene, there isn't even a scene about him realizing her style of running like in the game's story.
It's like they made him so male viewers can sort of relate, but then they thought yuri was the way to win the audience so they had to half-ass him. The second and third season get worse where he just... exists? He isn't even giving motivational speeches anymore.

Honest question: does winning matter that much to you that you seriously have to follow meta instead of trying to win with your favorite characters? If so, why? The act of winning itself, bragging rights, the slightly better rewards, or the title?

>see posts and fanart about how Bakushin is secretly actually smart
>people saying she realized trainer was tricking her but went along with it
>actually read her story
>she's actually straight up fucking retarded
>trainer is just gaslighting her in to oblivion
>the one time she thinks maybe trainer is lying to her she confronts him about it
>gets gaslit again
>there is no subtext or implications whatsoever Bakushin has realized the bullshit and is playing on
>she straight up got gaslit and trusts trainer
>only until the 3 years are finished she might start racing long distances
Guys, this shit was fucked up.

If you choose female as your gender, does Top Cun still talk about dating you?
