The only reason why Kratos was the protagonist of these games was because he was so iconic in the original trilogy. The game getting weirdly preachy about old Kratos bad up to and including nuKratos having a whole scene where he rants at a old Kratos lounging in a chair is cringe because old Kratos is literally the only reason why nuKratos is even here.

It also makes it clear that they didn't just make a game about Kratos being a dad, they did this deliberately to attack the depiction of masculinity in the old God of War games. They want to "fix" Kratos. And this dude accidentally worded in a way which hit the pompous and sanctimonious tone of the new games right on the head.

I liked the part where nuKratos verbally berates original Kratos, even though the only reason we're even playing as Kratos rather than a Norse warrior was because the original Kratos was such an iconic and marketable character.
