Sure there are lefties on social media saying dumb shit, but people in power on the right, paid people with influence, are pushing against empathy entirely. "Sin of empathy" "empathetic narcissism", etc. Even this heat map that the right uses against the left is just saying that the right is so tribal they don't care about right and wrong done to people outside their tribe. It's a standard continuation of the whole "bleeding heart" thing coping with the blatant brutality and violence required to enact and maintain rightwing agendas and policy. Based, but it requires anti-empathy messaging.

It's also good to keep in mind that the "opinion discarded" heat map meme is just about people's extent of caring about right or wrong done to people and things. Evil people would more often have a smaller circle since they don't care about bad things happening outside the things they care about.

>it's evil to care about your family?
It's like how Mr. Freeze loves his wife, but it's understandable to lable someone who would kill countless innocents to save one person they happen to love is evil. I know it's mostly mundane things happening in the real world, but we can reduce it to our thoughts on nepotism; we see it as bad.

Because rightwing ideology requires belief in noble lie because being critical of information, even the information from sources that favor you and favorable information is leftist and self destructive in the fairness prioritized in that line of reasoning. Rightwing thought pushes against fairness in favor of tribal nepotism uplifting a narrow group while exploiting others or at least not giving a shit if others get exploited.

So they believe in propaganda and conspiracies, but it's always what's most favorable to them, what benefits them and what they believe. As free market libertarian leaning GOP conservatives, they aim to protect the profits and practices of oil companies while reducing any sort of threat of government control over the auto industry. The result is that the industry interests and the millions they spend on propaganda aren't factored in even though their profit motive is clear and obvious.

NTA but this is cope. Why put so much effort? Rightwing thought is more tribal by nature. It's not even an insult.

The study spells it out: it's not about priority of care, it's about the possible extent of caring about right or wrong done to someone. It's not even about intervening, donating, or action, it's a simple question of do you care at all about right or wrong done to someone. It's not a shocking revelation: the right is more tribal, their care is limited locally and in the familiar while the left is more outwardly considerate. Consideration isn't priority, but it does mean you're less likely to support profiting at the expense of someone else's well being and if someone in your tribe does wrong to someone outside it, you are more likely to seek justice than protect them. The right more often reflexively protects those who do wrong in that.

>The free speech extremists absolutely do believe it. They just aren't the only faction in the Republican Party.
They don't because there are only specific causes they'll show up for and specific types of anti-free speech policy they'll actively oppose. Not even libertarians show up to support pro-Palestine people being punished for their beliefs and if they do they're very few.

The right in general has an anti-free speech leaning because the core of rightwing philosophy is protecting a certain type of power and structure you feel at least benefits you at the cost of not caring about right and wrong done to others while the leftwing aims to spread power and considerations.

That heat map shows extent of caring about right and wrong done to someone or something. It's not controversial, the right is more tribal and doesn't care about right or wrong done outside themselves. The left is more bleeding heart and more often cares about right or wrong done outside their tribe. Righting politics consolidate powers and protections, leftwing politics aim to expand power and protections.
