Bad news: It requires an above average IQ to use because Google made VP9 optimized for streaming not personal use.

Even with noisy DVDs we got AFGS1 last year so AV1 is better than H264 in like 90% of videos now. The only exceptions might be stuff like the duck take off and crowd run videos.
