Both can barely be considered video games with the amount of time you spend doing nothing, and the worst thing is that even from a narrative standpoint they are so lacking that you actively harm your experience when paying attention to the plot.
Ultimately both Death stranding and rdr2 fail at being a video game or a movie feeling like a real waste of time and money.
