I don't know what the ball thing is a reference to, but there are a lot of protestors these days outside hotels where asylum seekers are housed, and the government is having trouble keeping a lid on it.
It's funny seeing pictures and video of it - the protestors are mostly young and middle-aged people, while the counter-protestors (refugees welcome) are mostly boomers.
