For all his faults, Blomkamp had the best idea for the Alien franchise in decades. Retcon that piece of shit third movie that crashed the story into a brick wall for no reason. Reset the timeline back to when fans enjoyed the movies and set it a few years later. There's still plenty of room for awesome stories there and they don't have to be fucking stupid ass nonsensical prequels anymore. It didn't need Ripley either but whatever.

There's been a shit ton of Aliens entertainment in game, comic and toy form. It's what everyone wanted more of. It's literally why the Aliens franchise is the most confusing one around. They ran it into a brick wall with Alien 3 then for decades since refuse to make what the fans actually want. Blomkamp understood that fans wanted a return to right after Aliens movie. And who stopped it? Ridley's senile ass that was jealous of Aliens success. He's the one preventing it from continuing where fans want, not everyone wanting to copy Ridley. Blomkamp's movie would have done amazingly well and we'd have a successful trilogy of it by now too.

Blomkamp was going to. He was finally going to set the Alien franchise right back and back on course like it always should have been. Set it a decade after Aliens, Ripley, Newt and Hicks are alive and older. The company found alien eggs elsewhere and a bunch of hijinks ensue that eventually brings in our main trio. It would have been great. But Ridley stomped on it to make his dumb android movies.
