You either suck at media analysis or English if you can't see the difference between the two scripts. The literal meaning may be the same, while the feelings behind the words may be totally opposed, and 8-4 often doesn't even get the literal meaning correct either. The fucked up thing is that 8-4 can do great translations when they try (see Nier).

"Making shit up in the spirit of the original work" is the most important part of the translator's job because a direct translation that sounds natural is very rarely possible. The problem comes when bad translators take this as an excuse to write fanfiction or insert their retarded opinions.

MTL isn't a solution either because language translation isn't a math problem and AIs are retarded when it comes to anything that requires intuitive thinking. You cannot train an AI "smart" enough to overcome the basic limitations of transcribing meaning from one language to another.
