To answer your question directly, the point of life is to try to make it a bit better for other people. If everyone did that, we'd all be a lot better off. I know it sounds gay, but you will get back what you put in, even if it is only a 50% ROI. Just try it. Make a supportive reply to a comment in a thread, compliment someone on something you don't care about but they clearly love.
I kinda hate my life and I half want to die, but it's pretty cool how easy it is to make other people happy and it helps get me through the bad times.
