berry nice
i have a suggestion
using hanon (or any sixteenth heavy piece, really)
go extremely slowly with a metronome,
60bpm and under or so
except instead of playing straight rhythms,
there are several rhythmic permutations that any given set of four sixteenths can be played as; i like these four:
using
>sixteenth swing
as a template and starting point,
it can be described as long, short, long, short
>reverse swing
as short, long, short, long
>lazy
as long, short, short, short
>frantic
as short, short, short, long
just to see how it subconsciously works for yourself, break out a somewhat easier piece with lots of sixteenth grouping in one or both hands, and run through it, first normally with a metronome, and then using each (metronomed) permutation at least once, and then normally again without the metronome.
i guarantee new worlds will open before you. i have no idea how or why it works but, as any of my students could tell you, it just werks.
