Film school is shit degree, but his advice was not don't go to film school. It was don't get a college degree at all and start working a minimum wage job instead. It would make sense for like 30 year old guy with no credentials who's thinking of going into debt to get a degree, but it absolutely does not make sense for 18 year old with stellar high school record who can get a college education for free.
