It's a thing even irl. Ryzeal pre-mitsubishi was a deck that could do its plays in like 5 minutes tops, yet "pros" dragged out the combos for 30+ and summoned fucking gagaga cowboy instead of abyss dweller/literally any other R4NK just to burn LP and pass turn to the opponent with 15 minutes on the clock. Once the opponent got a a single card in grave, the "pro" would go "umm, cards in hand? lemme check your GY and then mine, also cards in hand again?" until he was forced to go to BP, where he would lose due to having less LP.

This is the real reason tenpai was hit so harshly in TCG, it didn't fucking matter if you took literally 40 minutes setting up your board, the tenpai bvll would delete your stupid shit and shove a massive dragon cock down your tranny hatch in 30 seconds flat. It's why the nunny makes them seethe to this day. It's why ryzeal with a small shark engine gained traction in TCG (which btw was made popular by the obese acne-ridden ogre).
