Look at it in the same way as Frisk suddenly deciding to stop playing along during cutscenes in Genocide. We didn't tell them to do that, but it's establishing the characterization of the person playing the route. You're not here to fuck around, you're bored of this, you've seen it all before.
Deltarune doesn't have the confusing middleman situation with two or three entities vying for control over one body, it's just You and Kris, so if the game says that You would be taking action in this scene it has to be done through the SOUL.
