He basically served the purpose of telling the WoL and the Scions that the sundered Ascians are still on the loose and quite active, because only an Ascian could have taught this kid how to create a concept and summon a primal from it. Also that Eosphor, the second chief researcher who was studying the key (mentioned in the puzzle lab) was our shard from the Ninth, and that they probably helped Krile's parents flee with the key. It's not much by any means, but even Stormblood was just the premise to the big reveal and lore plot twists that Shadowbringers was.
