Dragon's Dogma was the original Monster Hunter. Goblins and magic were present in early versions of Monster Hunter. Palicos were originally called Cat Goblins. Monster hunting was originally "Bounty Hunting".
Monster Hunter owes its entire existence to Dragon's Dogma. Dragon's Dogma did not get the credit it deserved until over a decade later. Now say "thank you" to Dragon's Dogma.
