I don't really dislike primaris other than the phobos units being too tacticool.

But I do feel like they should keep 40K as it is with mirrored terrain etc as a containment game for competitive autists but do a Warhammer for Adults variant where you get 30-50 guys, 1-2 tanks, and 1 commander. And fill that mode up with random event tables, NPC aliens/monsters, complicated scenarios, and other stuff the competitive dorks will hate.

It's funny, the whole gimmick of the Eldar back in the day was that you had super fragile units that all had a niche weapon so if you picked the right mix and used them like a scalpel you'd win. And now every army is like that. 5 man units leapfrogging each other. A marine squad is all flamers or all plasma or whatever.

I'm not even sure how I'd go about fixing it. You had scoring units and a max size requirement to take a heavy weapon in older editions but that made tactical marines feel like a tax.
