Yeah I feel like a lot of highschool essay assignments are bullshit, I didn't believe a single word I wrote for highschool classes. It felt a lot different in university, a lot of my professors seemed a lot more interested in what I actually thought of what we read and I was happy to share. If I do become a teacher I'd rather just ask my students to give me like 500 words on what they thought about the reading.
