Again, I get why they do it. I think it's a shit thing to do that is a net negative for the end consumer solely so they can keep a small element of brand prestige.
PlayStation, Microsoft have prestige as well, but they're still actually willing to put their shit on sale and no one (sane) is walking around saying Xbox's fucking problem is that they do sales that are more than 30% on their published games.
And again, when contemporaries in the same genre in the same sales range (eg Xenoblade 2 vs Tales of Arise) the idea falls flat. Xenoblade 2 is not prestigious enough to have never fucking gone on sale for more than 30% off in its entire 8 years since release.

This doesn't stop other publishers getting multi-million sellers, it wouldn't stop Nintendo.
It sucks because Switch / Switch 2 would actually be perfect to go all digital on if it wasn't that 90% of the relevant games on it were published by the company with the worst digital store front sales in the industry.
