I'd get the 2013. Unironically the only year ever of KLR I'd avoid would be 2008, as they had oil burning issues.
BUT LOOK FOR A FIRST GENERATION ONE. They made them from 1987 to 2007 without changing a single thing other than the plastics. Parts for them cost pennies, and I know several people who have offered to trade me their gen 2/3 KLR for my gen 1 KLR. They're really really the best ones.
Any bike will be good though, btw. Even the oil burning on the 2008s is massively overstated, and is fixed with a $50 part from MCP I think.
