I think autism rates are over inflated by the trendy autism for kids on tiktok. Take a look at the following:

Severe autism is fucking horrendous to deal with. These kids are mentally fucked up, basically impossible to socialize and are a danger to their family and classmates. The lives they live will be unproductive and a drain on the joy of those around them.
Milder autism produces socially awkward weirdos who are mostly harmless, might act a bit odd but can mostly get along.
The modern iterations of autism that we're seeing in epidemic rates are nothing like this though. They feel like a disingenuous performance for social media. People who do stupid phony finger snapping and shuffling and speech patterns on tiktok for Internet attention. I don't think you have to worry about " " autism " " unless it's real autism.
You do however have to worry about down syndrome, because that becomes exponentially more likely to occur when the mother giving birth is 35 or older.
