/v/ - What is the point of video games?

They're entertainment. I take issue with the "rise and grind" hustlebro culture that has come about, where life is only seen as being about productivity. As if the only valid things to be doing in your life are work and anything else to make money off of. This is totally backwards. The goal should be to enjoy life, and you have to "grind" and make money so that you can afford to do the things you love. I blame anglocucks and their "protestant work ethic" bullshit, but that's a whole topic.

Should you be a NEET who does nothing but play vidya? Well yeah, of course not. But that's no different than saying you shouldn't be a NEET who does nothing but watch TV all day. There's nothing fundamentally different about vidya vs consooming any other media. And at least vidya causes your neurons to fire a bit more due to active engagement.
