the worst I ever did was make a program at school that would just fill a person's user directory with endless gibberish data. I gave it out to a few people after testing out on a friend and thought nothing of it for about 2 weeks until the school servers went offline and it was because 'a massive hack overwriting all of the backups on the network had taken place'. bell still wasn't ringing in my head. then it turned out my friend had given my program to several classrooms full of people and then the penny started to drop that I was the person responsible. they caught me after a few finger pointing interviews with students and banned me from ever using the school network again.
