Catholic Girls is the only Zappa song that feels vile in a way where the satire is a little too subtle for comfort. And the context in the album storyline adds to that.

I think the more 'realistic' elements, from cheating to rockstars taking advantage of sheltered small-town girls is played in such a lighthearted way that it gives Joe's Garage an uncomfortable start and make it hard to recommend as a Zappa fan, especially with the central scrutinizer interludes talking about Mary sucking cock backstage after talking about her idyllic relationship with Joe.

But when Joe's Garage really steps into the absurd elements of act 2 onward, it saves the album from being a bleak NTR story to a surreal futuristic pervert adventure. It's a completely different album at that point and a surprisingly compelling one.
Just because something is perverted doesn't make it gross.
Catholic girls and to a lesser extent crew slut are gross because of the corruption aspects.
