good, the sooner Nintendo realises that they mustn't rely on 3rd party cross platform shit to make them money, the sooner we can return to the golden era of Nintendo putting out a lot of Nintendo games and nothing else (besides indies) which are the only times Nintendo ever won.

took the words out of my mouth. and making a pvpve just makes it more obvious to me that fromsoft no longer makes games that are interesting to me.
when people say something like this, there are usually people who'll say "oh so you just want them to make the same games over and over again". no, I don't, but there were certain design philosophies in demon's souls and dark souls that I thought were more like design principles that I'd see in their other games too. but clearly that applies only to some and not others. the sense of adventure in their games is gone. elden ring has no friction, even if you die a lot. the dying no longer is a set back, it's just a tax you're expected to pay whenever you face a new boss. i haven't cared about dying in a fromsoft game since after ds1. deaths are meaningless.

why are there so many NPCs on /v/ that just respond under the assumption that OP is telling the truth when the premise he presents is completely false to begin with? why do none of you say "but OP, you're just making shit up."

I see this all the time on here. OPs make threads like "Why does everyone hate X" and everyone responds """explaining""" why all the peasants hate X now when the claim was never true to begin with.
I'm assuming it's because 80% of people who come here are deeply insecure.

because parry systems successfully trick people into thinking they're doing something skillful when it's one of the most shallow mechanics that exists.

I'm not exaggerating when I say that action games WILL die if developers don't get over their obsession with such an easy to implement, yet shallow mechanic and start implementing thoughtful combat design again. But it's difficult to pull away from when it's so easy to manipulate players into thinking they're playing a good action game by including them.
