I'm not installing Epic again Tim, I fell for that once and buying a single game was a fucking nightmare

Here's a summary of what that was like for the zoomers:
>be me
>want pc game
>go to gamestop/kb toys/toysrus
>entire pc area is like 30 titles
>if you want something that didn't come out in the last 2 years they have to special order it for you
>come back in 2 weeks or call them every day to check the status
>alternatively: hunt bookstore/grocery store for gaming magazine (or subscribe if you're a nut)
>comb reviews/paid advertisements for contact information of distributor/publisher
>send check/ cc info by mail
>see your game in 3 weeks
>turns out the review/description on the box was horseshit and the game sucks
A storefront with sales, posted reviews, near-unlimited streaming data downloads, constant updates & corrections, built-in discussion forums is not some kafka-esque nightmare that consumers unwittingly stumbled into. There are always trade-offs, if there was real demand for permanent copies GoG (installs are download-able) and Indiebox (physical DRM-free data drives with the game) would be bigger.
