Obviously sega blocked the idea, by the single fact amy is sonic official love interest, so mina came into the picture, funny enough just because they wanted a quick pairing.

Archie amy and tails sounds like an actual good pairing if you know their friendship background in the book, in fact both we're the same age in Archie.
But i'm sure the fandom would have turned everything on fire it that actually happened.
