it was in Czechoslovakia and he was a partisan fighter, he was only 16 at the time but he said it's one of the best things he'd ever done in his life. he also rode a bathtub raft down the river after the carpet bombed his city and lived in the forest in a cave with a few other guys for months, they trapped rabbits with snares and almost starved to death. eventually they sent him to a prison camp and guards beat him up, busted his arm and the doc set it wrong so it healed on a crooked angle and was just bent 20 degrees the wrong way for the next 70 years.
