Because communism is just another strain of Liberalism, a failed ideology, even the countries you look up to as heralds of Communism China, China isn’t a Communist country. Or even left wing. It’s National Socialist.
What we see in China today is a meticulously engineered fusion of overt ethno-nationalism, state capitalism, transactional diplomacy, anti-liberalism, anti-immigration, anti-democracy "monarchism"/authoritarianism, anti-globalist foreign policy, hyper-protectionist trade, nationalist industrial policy, scientific racism, socialistic safety nets, traditional family values, militarism, eugenics, ethnic chauvinism and techno-futurism.
Taken together, the sum of those parts do not add up to anything resembling Marxism, or anything even left-wing. The sum of those parts forms something unmistakably right-wing and fascist: the modern incarnation of National Socialism.
"Nazism" actually didn’t lose the 20th century. It simply changed continents and won in China. And it’s still winning. The past few decades have been the story of liberalism in hard retreat everywhere: declining, decaying, and increasingly out of favor and rejected around the world. In its place, China’s carefully calibrated brand of "National Socialism with Chinese characteristics" has skyrocketed to global prominence over the last two decades, and remains ascendant.
