>he "Ring of Fire" was an ominous propaganda name the anti-gunners in the media came up with in the 80/90s to collectively describe these companies.
Ah, I see I see, thank you.
>The name is borrowed from the Pacific ring of fire, a vaguely ring shaped area of geological/volcanic activity which famously stretches into the US west coast, including Los Angeles and causes earthquakes and such.
See this is how I'm familiar with the term, so for a moment I wondered if there was some sort of Pacific/Asian manufacturing connection here. Thanks for explaining it to me.

>AMT are not known for consistent and stellar quality, but they did make stuff like 1911s of various kinds and their Automag pistols, all which are known to have problems, but tend to be fixable.
Very true; my father has daily carried an AMT Hardballer (full size 1911 in stainless) for decades and loves that pistol. He's had to put a lot of work into it, but it fires very nicely, accurately and consistently now. His latest issue was, whoever at the factory was responsible for staking the Millet front sight blade on, didn't actually do it properly, and it finally gave way under load the last time out at the range and flew off. He tracked down an NOS replacement, chamfered the bottom edges of the two retaining holes and put a much better crimp on them.
People poo-poo on them but I'd rather have ones that's been reworked than many 1911s currently available.
I hate the AMT .45 Backup I take with me when I need to conceal, though.
