Yes. It's undeniable at this point since there is overwhelming amount of evidence to support how affective both stimulants and CBT is for those diagnosed and how little they benefit people who aren't. Either way, like that other anon said, two important DSM criteria for diagnosing ADHD is that it has to have a severe impact on your daily life and that impact has to go back to early childhood. No one just spontaneously develops ADHD as a teenager or adult.
It used to be very, very easy to get meds a while ago and ADHD has been permanently hampered by that reputation long after those days are over. Nowadays, professionals can get fucked in the ass for it, so they're very careful about it. At least in the US, you aren't even allowed to prescribe stimulants to someone that you haven't had a session with within the last 30 days.
Psychiatrists are especially well aware of drug-seeking behavior these days, and they will usually make people jump through therapy hoops for several months to weed out retards if they feel that they're just reciting a chatgpt script of how to present as having ADHD since most people who are having their life ruined by it tend to be distraught, defeated, friendless, unable to explain what's wrong with them, and have the shittiest resumes known to man if they are employed at all. Primary care physicians became the new unofficial dealer target instead, and now even they are hesitant to prescribe them now. After all, 99% of the moments where someone is coming to a PCP for a mental health issue over a psychiatrist, it's specifically because they wouldn't like what a psychiatrist would say about the matter.
