No, I'm fine with UTY having a bittersweet ending, because they never set out to outdo original Undertale, just tell another chapter before the actual grand finale. Deltarune having anything short of absolute golden ending would be a disaster, though.

Bad writing happened. Between the white plants and those logs it seemed like it will be tied to True Lab and Amalgamates somehow, but it went nowhere and ended up with a literal jack-in-the-box bossfight.
