BotW
I have a deep-seated resentment for Z's or Alphas who "grew up with this" and think it's some sort of "defining moment for video games as a whole."

Ohhh, so that's why they think this was a good game.

>They're starting to arrest people in my country for "misgendering in private"
Anyway, I'm actually enjoying my current playthrough of BotW, but I do feel that the "Champions" are oversold on you, as if the Art Team of the game were enamored with their own characters, and in the Champions Ballad DLC that becomes really obnoxious. I also dislike how BotW cutscenes have moments where the characters face the camera and say catchphrases as if they assume you love the character before you know anything about them. Ironically, the writers/cutscene planners of Age of Calamity, which also made Fire Emblem: Three Houses, did a much better job on characterizing the cast. Makes me really weirded out that Nintendo went to a third party writer firm to make TotK's story, and not just Koei Tecmo's team of competents.

This.
BotW wasn't actually that great, but people took the first 10 hours, the Great Plateau and euphoria of all the initial sense of discovery and extrapolate it upon the rest of the game when in reality BotW always wore off hard after you learn how little content variety it actually had, and an outright awful endgame with weak payoff.
To this day I believe BotW's hype-cycle was based on people touching the game for 10 hours and dropping it but just agreeing that it initially feels amazing. I can't understand how anybody, except people who never touched vidyas before, can go through all of BotW's main content and hours of shrine-content and decide it's one of the Greatest Games Ever Made. I found it supremely boring and average after the initial "sense" wore off.
