People keep missing the forest for the trees. The Deck was never about winning spec wars or being the most optimized device. Valve’s whole play was to normalize handheld PCs for casuals who wouldn’t touch a tower or gaming laptop.
By proving the market exists, Valve basically forced every other tech giant to wade in, and guess what? Every single one of those devices needs Steam, because nobody is going to risk launching a whole new store ecosystem just to compete with THE name brand of PC gaming.
