>Love everything
>Still FUCKS UP THE MAP SYSTEM IN A METROIDVANIA
>Its mix of requiring actual skill vs progression isnt paced well at the start, the first 8-10 hours are a mish mash of fun and serious frustration and not in a good way
>some runbacks are cancer and seem to be a leftover of a 7 year long dev game
>the rest is kino
Its getting better, im not bitching nearly as much as I did and my past bitching is lessened, but this game def needed like 1 legit game designer on par with the rest of the devs.
I cant praise fully because its lacking in its actual genre. Metroid Prime perfected how to do it when lost, all based on time and progression, if you are pacing well and always advancing, you wont really get the alerts that theres an area you SHOULD check out but not guided on exactly where, the HK version would be like "Hey, Deepnest is really in a tizzy, maybe go here" after you spent 2 hours finding other shit in areas you already did, it lets you explore but also give guidence without saying exactly where, just, "its somewhere in this massive biome". Super Metroid and SOTN perfected the map, having to fucking BUY maps after you get the quill is fucking retarded. Maps should be a bonus that show you a guide, but without a map that also is the guide, the quill and automap is useless.
I think most of my issues with Silksong can easily be fixed in a patch. Im loving most of it, just the shit im crying about im still not a fan of, and 2 damage platform hazards need to go ASAP. Its so cancer.
