Since they are meant to be played as singular games you transfer through. Even the original trilogy has the same curved experience progression by floor, you can just benefit far more from things like Murphys ghost, where in later games this feature is more like an "oh God I completely ruined my party, how do I get their levels high up enough to reclass them" safety net.
