It's the pokemon problem. It's so popular that quality literally doesn't matter, and they know that, because their fanbase treat the series as more of a community or a clique than a product.
So when you diss the "product", they take it as a diss to the "community" and get really defensive about it and start excusing every issue as just being hater propaganda, because at the end of the day, the DO NOT CARE about the quality of the game itself
