>>512609914 >Reduce the population to about thirty million. Suddenly people find it fun to decide where to live. They walk in groups around semi-abandoned villages and say "shall we settle here?" and before long they're friendly with the locals and organising bake sales and walking groups. An eccentric, timid man leaves his parent's spare bedroom and sets up a new home in an empty detached traditional home on the edge of town overlooking the canal. Before we know it he's cut back the overgrown hedge, he's taking better care of himself, and even finds a shy, polite and rather nerdy girl to move in with him. Shopping centres are empty for a while, leaves blow through them, city centres begin to decay as people go for the empty suburban houses which are a bit more spacious. Car parks full of swirling leaves and shopping trolleys moving to and fro according to the wind. But over time people have settled into their new homes and communities and gradually begin to make the abandoned places a little more presentable, if only because they can't help but try to make things a little more organised. True, some places are simply left to rot. Rows of tiny terraced houses are simply allowed to decay or are demolished if they pose a threat for the local kids. Newbuild estates are still occupied in some places, though in others they are just places tarmac gathers water and where the white sides of the houses are now black or green. The drains are long-blocked and these places just sit there in the water. Trees begin to grow, foliage spreads out wildly, going for a walk outside of town now really means being the odd one out in a natural environment swarming with animals and fields are resplendent with wildflowers. Japanese tourists in white dresses wade through knee-high ferns to take pictures of each other standing in front of gothic churches, the dense greenery around them buzzing with insects.
Sounds amazing, lad.
