That line doesn't really make sense in any context, because it's written "the remaining king (King) put him (The Knight) and his strange son (???) into power"
We can assume it's meant to be saying that The Knight put King and Lancer into power, since that's the actual situation in-game, but this happened before The Knight opened the Fountain, so it's describing actions that The Knight took in the Light World. The Knight still does not meet King, the Darkner, because the Dark World wasn't created yet.
It could also just be saying "King seized power" in an extremely awkward way and The Knight's involvement becomes purely incidental.
